The Dementia-Friendly Home app, developed by Dementia Australia, serves as a practical tool for individuals, caregivers, and family members seeking to adapt or design environments that better support those living with dementia.

Through a realistic virtual home environment, users can explore ways to enhance living conditions for people with dementia. The interactive nature of the app allows users to navigate each room independently, interacting with various objects to understand how simple modifications can significantly impact quality of life in a residential setting.

As users engage with the app, they have the flexibility to modify and experiment with different elements within the simulated environment. The platform offers multiple options representing positive, negative, or neutral outcomes, facilitating an understanding of the potential effects of various changes. Each object is accompanied by relevant principles grounded in dementia-enabling environment research, which supports ongoing learning. Additionally, users can save their progress for future reference and application.

The application is based on the principles of dementia-enabling environments (DEEP). It was initially funded by the Commonwealth-State Home and Community Care Program, with the latest updates supported through funding from the Gaudry Gift at the APS Foundation.
